Description

Do you work every day, dreaming of retirement? Are the higher-ups constantly on you and you wish they would just disappear? Work can be physically, emotionally, and relationally draining sometimes – but we have to do it anyway. How can my faith give me a greater motivation and a better perspective of my “nine-to-five?”

South Bay Bible Church, 578 Montauk Highway, East Moriches, is pleased to announce the start of Business Matters: A Biblical Theology of Work on Sunday, July 4, at 9:00 and 11:00 a.m. Join us in person or online for some shoptalk at southbaychurchli.org/livestream, Facebook Live, or YouTube.

“People often think God is unconcerned and uninvolved when it comes to their careers, but that may not be true,” said Matt Horne, associate pastor.

Whether you consider yourself a church person or not, you’re invited to join us for this three-part series, Business Matters, as Pastor Matt offers a biblical perspective for your work life.

1.     Working For The Boss (Genesis 2:15; Proverbs 13:4; Colossians 3:23) – July 4: Are you growing tired of the day-to-day routine? Is your boss constantly on you about something, leaving you to just want to quit? God has a lot to say about remaining diligent and giving your best effort to your work. The ability to do this requires a small, yet difficult, shift in understanding.

2.     9-5 Mission Field (Matthew 28:18-20; Romans 1:16; Romans 10:13-15) – July 11: Each person steps into a different setting with different roles and different tasks, but we all serve the same mission. What could happen if I decided to leverage my job for the glory of God and the furtherance of the gospel? This isn’t an easy thing to do, but it is the greatest thing we can do. You’ll never be content making a dollar when you were born to make a difference.

3.     Glorifying God in my Job with Rose Marie Bravo – July 18: We are ending the series with a very special interview with Rose Marie Bravo, former CEO of Burberry and former President of Sacks Fifth Avenue, and director for businesses like Williams-Sonoma, Godiva, and Estee Lauder. We will sit down to discuss what it means to honor God in the business world and beyond.
