CARE stands for Cherished Albums Restoration Effort. CARE for Sandy offers FREE digital restoration services for those whose photos have been damaged by October's devastating hurricane.
Our events are an opportunity for individuals and immediate families to bring up to 50 Sandy-DAMAGED photos for FREE on-premise scanning, plus future restoration by 450+ volunteers from 22 countries. Attendees may also submit photos that are affixed to glass or plastic album sleeves for assessment.
Please do not throw your treasured images away! Distress caused by mold, dirt, mud, sand, water warping, rips, scratches, smoke, ash, fire and emulsion peeling can often be repaired. Our volunteers have already beautified more than 200 photos. Over 500 additional photos have been "adopted" thanks to Photoshop experts from around the globe.
BONUS: Our generous host, Nassau Community College and its photography students will also be offering free NEW portraits (including make-up sessions!) for Sandy survivors from 12:00pm - 5:00pm. So arrive wearing your favorite duds and be prepared to say, "Mozzarella! Gorgonzola! Brie!" for the camera. Portrait seekers do not need to arrive with damaged photos to qualify.
