Come celebrate the third annual I Love My Park Day at Connetquot River State Park! I Love My Park Day is an exciting statewide event to improve and enhance New York's parks and historic sites and bring visibility to the entire park's system and its needs.
All volunteers should please arrive at 8:30 AM at the Main House front porch to check in; projects will start at approximately 9 AM. This year's activities are appropriate for those ages 13 and older.
Our first project this year will include litter pick up along the trails and perimeter fence lines. Volunteers who are interested in this project are asked to bring garden gloves, water and a snack to the event.
Our second project is for those who love to garden. We will be planting an assortment of annual and perennial flowers in a newly constructed butterfly garden. Volunteers are asked to bring garden gloves, water, snacks, and various tools (trowels, hand shovels, etc.)
For our third project, volunteers will be assisting with spreading wood chips along trails. It is highly recommended for volunteers who participate in this project to wear long pants with high socks or tall boots. It is also recommeded to bring gloves, water and snacks to this event. Wheel barrows and shovels will be provided.
The fourth project will be bird house modifications and bird house hanging. Those interested are asked to bring work gloves.
