Description

Building awareness of careers, opportunities, and vocations for the next generation Hauppauge, NY- A consortium of Manufacturing advocates have organized the annual Manufacturing Day Celebration to take place virtually at Long Island MFG Day 2020 on Friday October 2nd at 8:40AM. Last year 7,642 manufacturing job openings in Nassau and Suffolk Counties went unanswered according to the Workforce Development Institute (WDI), a crisis which can be attributed to two issues: a skills gap and misperceptions about modern manufacturing.

Manufacturing Day is an opportunity for thousands of companies and educational institutions around the nation to open their doors to students, parents, teachers, and community leaders and empowers manufacturers to come together to address their collective challenges so they can help their communities and future generations thrive. Generous Support is given by Grassi CPAs and Millennium Web Communications.

Manufacturing support Organizations ADDAPT, APICS, Farmingdale State College, Go Career Compass, HIA-LI, IgniteLI, MTRC, National Association of Manufacturers, O-High Tech, Stony Brook University, Small Business Development Center, and Summit Safety & Efficiency have organized this year’s virtual seminar designed to bring students, parents, teachers, guidance counselors and manufacturers together to discuss careers, opportunities and vocations in manufacturing and build awareness of the industries that thrive here on Long Island. Panels will include: Millennial’s in Manufacturing, Higher Education Programs, STEM Initiatives, and Shop Floor Tours followed by Q&A with experts, and COVID19 strategies.

Participating Manufacturers include; Air Industries, Applied DNA Science, Clear Vision Optical, Contract Pharmcal Corp. Designatronics, East West Industries, Eastern Fence, Exergy, GSE Dynamics, Mil-Max, Natech Plastics, Nature’s Bounty, Oerlikon Metko, Roman Stone Construction Company, Thuro Metal, and Twinco Manufacturing and Brookhaven National Labs. ###
