Date & Time
EAC Network’s 8th Annual Cohalan Cares for Kids annual fundraising event will benefit the Suffolk County Children’s Center at Cohalan Court. The Children’s Center provides a safe, supervised, and nurturing environment for children to engage in fun and educational activities while their parents or guardians attend to court business. The event is being hosted by the Suffolk County Bar Association, and will recognize honoree Cheryl Zimmer, Esq., for her long-standing advocacy of the Center and the children it serves.
The courtroom is no place for a child, and childcare is neither affordable, accessible, nor available to all community members. The Suffolk County Children’s Center at Cohalan Court is a vital service that helps parents and is especially helpful to low-income individuals. In addition to providing free childcare by trained professionals, the Children’s Center promotes literacy and provides additional resources to parents and guardians, including legal assistance, domestic violence programs, parenting classes, and more. The Cohalan Cares for Kids fundraiser is a primary source of private funding for the Center and integral to sustaining the Center, which was visited by more than 1,600 children in 2018.
Tickets are $60 for 1, $100 for 2, and $40 for law students. Sponsorships ranging from $300-$1,500 are available. Attendees are encouraged to bring a children’s book to support the Center’s promotion of literacy.
