Docent Day Trip to Dia: Beacon

Dia:Beacon, a massive museum on the banks of the Hudson River, presents Dia’s collection of art from the 1960s to the present, including works by Dan Flavin, John Chamberlain and many others. We will visit and tour the museum, emphasizing recently installed works by Dorothea Rockburne.  Rockburne will be in residence during our visit and we will have a chance to see her and get a glimpse of her works in progress. 

This one-day excursion includes travel by Hampton Jitney plus admission and a guided tour. The trip is limited to 40 participants and is available only to Parrish docents and their guests through September 4. On September 5 any remaining spots will be offered to Parrish members.     

Itinerary

9:15 am Depart Parrish on chartered Hampton Jitney

12:30 pm Arrive at Dia:Beacon

1:30 pm Tour of Dia:Beacon

4 pm Depart Dia:Beacon

7:15 pm Arrive at Parrish

Participants have the option of ordering a boxed lunch to eat on the bus or may pack their own lunch.  Light snacks will be available for purchase at Dia:Beacon and will be provided on the return bus trip.  Dia:Beacon’s restaurant cannot accommodate a group our size. 

Boxed Lunch Choices:

Each lunch will include a fruit salad, a chocolate chip cookie/brownie, and a bottle of water/iced tea.  Price $16.95

These lunches are to eat on the bus.  Light snacks will be available for purchase at Dia:Beacon. We will not eat as a group.
