Open call: Long Island is fortunate to feature public art and sculpture in our parks. A wonderful, creative way to add another dimension to these works is to present a performance art/dance piece in or around the artwork. Dance companies in NYC routinely produce 'site-specific' performances at public sculptures, and Long Island should be showcasing these kinds of performances as well. Performance artist Warren Barlowe is inviting artists to create experimental performances for dates in October and November LI seasonal festivals: Call 631-486-4818: Open Call for a few more people over 21 who are into the movement/dance/performance arts, to prepare now to perform around or in a public artwork/sculpture in a public park this fall, and interpret the artwork through their own individual freestyle movement and/or dance. There is no set minimum or maximum time length of your piece, and you may do it as an interaction/collaboration with other artists or with music as you wish. There is no money involved.
