Description

Nothing defined the disco era and debauchery in the late 70’s in New York more than the legendary night club Studio 54. In its infamous heyday, celebrities, socialites, the straight, gay and the beautiful danced, drank, got high, and most importantly, got seen. It was where the underground became mainstream, where inhibitions were left at the door, and what happened inside Studio 54 mostly stayed inside Studio 54. Located at West 54th Street, a then-seedy part of town, Studio 54 was the brainchild of Ian Schrager and Steve Rubell, two college buddy entrepreneurs from Brooklyn who, over the course of 33 months, became the kings of New York —- and then lost it all due to greed.
With unprecedented access to Ian Schrager, the normally reclusive, quieter co-owner of Studio 54, the other being the more outgoing Steve Rubell ( who died of complications from AIDS in 1989), we hear the whole unvarnished story for the first time. With a treasure-trove of rare footage, celebrity interviews, a glorious portrait of a disco-era phenomenon the film takes the audience past the red velvet ropes, recalling an unforgettable place in an unforgettable time. But no one can dish out the dirt like the people who actually worked at Studio 54, and as a special treat, we have an amazing panel comprised of the staff who saw it all and are happy to share it all: Myra Scheer, executive assistant to Rubell and Schrager, Marc Benecke, doorman, Gerard Renny, VIP doorman, Scottie Taylor, bartender and Chuck Garelick, head of security. This is a great panel to get up-close and personal with!
Running Time: 98 Minutes
Guest Speakers for Q&A: A panel of staff from Studio 54! Myra Scheer and Marc Bedeck are also the hosts of The Marc & Myra Show - Studio54 Radioon SiriusXM Studio 54 Radio! The moderator for what should be a very exciting Q&A will be Tom Needham, host of Tom Needham’s The Sounds of Film on Stony Brook University's own WUSB 90.1 FM radio station!
And for your enjoyment, pre-screening music by THE MARC AND MYRA SHOW, STUDIO54 RADIO - SIRIUS XM will be provided!
