"Please join us on Wednesday, October 10th at 7pm at Sangria 71 in Commack for a great cause in honor of my son Antonio. I have a personal connection with JDRF and type 1 diabetes (T1D). My son was diagnosed with T1D on April 19, 2017. Type 1 diabetes is an autoimmune condition that occurs when the body’s immune system attacks the beta cells living in the tissue of the pancreas. This causes the pancreas to produce little to no insulin. The causes of the autoimmunity are unknown.
Managing type 1 diabetes is a constant struggle for Antonio and the many people living with T1D which involves monitoring blood sugar levels, administering insulin when blood sugar is high and teating with sugar when numbers are low. To help Antonio manage his T1D he wears an insulin pump and a continuous glucose monitor which, without funds raised and the support of JDRF, would not be possible. While insulin does keep Antonio alive, it is not a cure. BUT THERE IS HOPE!
If you would like to make a donation to JDRF or would like to walk with us on October 13th at Eisenhower Park in East Meadow in honor of my son Antonio, please visit the link: http://www2.jdrf.org/goto/toniospurpose
We greatly appreciate your support of this worthy cause. If you have any questions or any additional information, please don’t hesitate to contact me. A special thank you from me, Antonio and my family."
