The Flash Flood Watch continues for * portions of southern Connecticut, northeast New Jersey, and southeast New York, including the following areas, in southern Connecticut, Fairfield, Middlesex, New Haven, and New London. In northeast New Jersey, Bergen, Essex, Hudson, Passaic, and Union. In southeast New York, Bronx, Kings (brooklyn), Nassau, New York (manhattan), Orange, Putnam, Queens, Richmond (staten island), Rockland, Suffolk, and Westchester. * From Thursday morning through Thursday afternoon * low pressure approaches the tri-state area tonight and passes through on Thursday. Rain tonight becomes potentially heavy at times Thursday morning with the potential of heavy downpours into early afternoon. A total of 1.25 to 2.25 inches of rainfall with locally higher amounts possible in any stronger convection on Thursday. Flash flooding of urban and poor drainage areas, as well as small streams will therefore be possible Thursday. Precautionary/preparedness actions... A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation. You should monitor later forecasts and be prepared to take action should flash flood warnings be issued. Maloit , "Wind Advisory" ...Wind Advisory remains in effect from 9 am to 6 PM EST Thursday... * winds...southwest 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph. * Timing...mid Thursday morning through Thursday afternoon. * Impacts...strong winds may blow down limbs, trees, and power lines. Scattered power outages are expected. Precautionary/preparedness actions... A Wind Advisory is issued when sustained winds of 31 to 39 mph, or gusts of 46 to 57 mph, are expected or occurring. Description

The Choir of Holy Trinity Orthodox Church will present its annual Christmas Concert at 7:00 PM on Saturday, December 8, featuring a program of Orthodox and Western hymns and carols.  The choir will be joined by the Saint Vladimir’s Seminary Chorale and the concert will be live streamed by Ancient Faith Radio.  Advent refreshments will be served after the concert.  Admission and reception are both free of charge.  A Christmas boutique will also be held during the reception.  Vespers (evening prayer) will be held at 6:00 PM.  The church is located at 369 Green Avenue, East Meadow.  For more information, call 516-483-3649, email info@htocem.org, or visit www.htocem.org.
