"GI JEWS: Jewish Americans in World War II," will be shown at Temple Israel of Lawrence, 140 Central Avenue, Lawrence, N.Y., on Thursday, March 7, 2019, starting at 7:00 p.m. "GI JEWS" tells the profound and unique story of the 550,000 Jewish men and women who served in WW II. Through the eyes of the servicemen and women, the film brings to life the little known story of Jews in WW II - as active participants in the fight against Hitler, bigotry and intolerance.
SPECIAL GUEST SPEAKER - Bernie Rader, WW II veterans who joined the Allied forces in 1943 as a rifleman in the 94th Infantry Division's Company K. Rader was among a group of 55 GI's captured in an ambush in France on October 2, 1944. Bernie was wounded in the battle, and imprisoned as a POW.
