Hofstra is celebrating the 20th year of its annual Irish Festival on Sunday, March 11, 11 a.m.-5 p.m. at the Mack Physical Education Center, on the University’s North Campus.
The festival celebrates the Irish gifts of music, food and culture to America. There will be music performances throughout the day, as well activities for children, and beverages, food and crafts for sale.
JigJam, a multi-award winning quartet from the heart of the Midlands in Ireland, will make their Hofstra debut, performing traditional Irish music mixed with Bluegrass and Americana in a new genre that has been branded as 'I-Grass' or "CeltGrass." Their Hofstra appearance is their only on Long Island this year. Returning entertainment includes Master of Ceremonies Tony Jackson (WRHU, 88.7FM, Hofstra University); the Black Velvet Band; and the Hibernian Singers.
Admission is $6 and $5 for senior citizens (65 and older). Children under 12 are free. Members of the Hofstra community also receive one free admission upon presentation of a current HofstraCard.
