Whose stories do we hear when we learn about veterans? The Holocaust Memorial & Tolerance Center of Nassau County (HMTC) is teaming up with the Intrepid Sear, Air & Space Museum for a program that explores policies that effected LGBTQ+ service members during and after World War II. Michael Stevens, a Museum Educator in the Intrepid' s Lifelong Learning Programs, will draw from research about who served, and who did not serve, on the Intrepid during its years in service from 1943-1974 to raise larger questions of how changes in military policies impacted the diversity of the ship's crew and reflected cultural change in the United States.
