   Jewish Sports Heritage Association will be hosting their 1st Annual Induction Ceremony on Sunday, April 29, 2018, at 10:30 a.m. at Temple Israel of Lawrence, 140 Central Avenue, Lawrence, N.Y. Eight greats from the world of sports will be inducted and five others will receive individual awards at the ceremony.

   The inductees are: Cliff Bayer - Olympic fencer; Preston Goldfarb - soccer coach; Boyd Melson - boxer; Merrill Moses - water polo goalie; Vic Niederhoffer - squash racquets; Tracie Max Sachs - speed skier; Dara Torres - olympic swimmer; and Roby Young - soccer player. The honorees are: Howard Borkan, lacrosse - the Dr. Bruno Lambert Good Guy in Sports; Naomi Kutin, powerlifter and Jacob Labovitz, soccer player - the Michael Freedman Outstanding Jewish High School Athletes of the Year; and Olivia Rosendahl, Northwestern University diver and Josh Rosen, UCLA QB - the Jay Fiedler Outstanding Jewish College Athletes of the Year.

   "Jews in sports are thought to be an oxymoron," said Alan Freedman, Director of Jewish Sports Heritage Association, "and Jewish Sports Heritage Associations' goal is to show the public that Jewish men and women have made significant achievements in the world of sports, and continue to do so."
