Description

KRISTALLNACHT THROUGH A VERY DIFFERENT LENS.

Please join Congregation Shaaray Shalom for a very special presentation on Sunday, November 12th at 4 PM, to commemorate the November Pogrom of 1938, which is known as Kristallnacht.

Leah and Ed Freeberg, recently visited the Eastern European cities of Budapest, Prague, and Berlin and were overwhelmed by the destruction and decimation of Europe’s vibrant Jewish population.  They will speak about the experience of standing on streets and in places where Jews were rounded up for mass deportations and murder.

Leah and Ed stood in the path of a beautiful garden, which now covers a mass grave of murdered Jews on the grounds of the largest European synagogue, and the second largest synagogue in the world.   They visited a synagogue inscribed with the names of tens of thousands of Jews who were slaughtered at the hands of the Nazis, and stood near the bronze-laden stumbling stones with names of the victims, that were carved into the cobblestones of these cities.

Leah and Ed have seen first-hand and photographed the memories of the horrors of the Shoah through the lens of the “Baby Boomer” generation and want to share their story with you.  Please join us for this very special and poignant event.

Congregation Shaaray Shalom is located at 711 Dogwood Avenue, West Hempstead, NY  11552.  Admission is free and all are welcome.
