Lessing’s Hospitality Group Expands Celebrated 1890 Burger to Additional Locations in Honor of 135th Anniversary

First introduced at Mirabelle Tavern earlier this year, the 1890 Burger quickly became a crowd favorite and earned praise as one of the best burgers on Long Island from both diners and critics alike. In honor of their 135 year anniversary, Lessing’s Hospitality Group is expanding the availability of its sought-after 1890 Burger, to three additional locations: Finnegan’s in Huntington, Sandbar in Cold Spring Harbor, and Bayberry in Islip. To mark the occasion, every 135th 1890 Burger ordered at participating locations will be free for one lucky diner, starting October 9^th with the burger’s expanded launch.

The 1890 Burger’s success reflects the deep culinary heritage of Lessing’s and the dedicated efforts of Executive Chef Billy Muzio and COO Lawrence Lessing, who devoted themselves to crafting not just a good burger, but an unforgettable one built on the finest ingredients and precise technique. 

“This burger has been 135 years in the making,” said Billy Muzio. “We explored countless possibilities, from different meat blends to various cooking techniques. We pushed ourselves to get every detail right, and in the end, we let the quality of the ingredients speak for themselves.”

The star of the 1890 Burger is a 45-day custom dry-aged beef patty from Pat LaFrieda, crafted from a proprietary blend of the most flavorful cuts to ensure exceptional tenderness and rich, beefy flavor. It’s topped with the award-winning Tillamook smoked cheddar cheese, white onion, and a special house-made sauce; all nestled in a freshly baked sesame seed bun.

“Our goal was to create a burger that could rival the most iconic burgers of New York City,” said Lawrence Lessing. “We put so much energy into perfecting it, and it’s incredibly rewarding to see the response. Guests love the balance of flavors and the attention to detail in every bite.”

This expansion marks a meaningful way to honor Lessing’s Hospitality Group’s 135 years of hospitality. Along with surprising lucky guests by making every 135th burger free, the 50th guest to order the burger at each participating location will also receive a special-edition 1890 hat. It’s all part of continuing the tradition of delivering unforgettable dining experiences across Long Island and beyond, and it begins on October 9^th, 2025 and will run through the end of the year.
