Flash flooding is expected to begin shortly. * Some locations that will experience flooding include... Islip, Brentwood, Commack, Huntington Station, Centereach, Deer Park, Lindenhurst, Hauppauge, Ronkonkoma, Huntington, Stony Brook, Babylon, Port Jefferson, Northport and Holbrook. Precautionary/preparedness actions... Turn around, don't drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles. Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other drainage areas and low lying spots. Stony Brook University Professor Patricia Wright will discuss efforts from Madagascar to Long Island to preserve the world’s endangered forests and the species and animals they harbor.

Chief Harry Wallace of Unkechaug Nation. Unkechaug are an Algonquin speaking people from Long Island. Chief Wallace will speak about his efforts to preserve and protect the endangered language of Long Island’s Algonquin people.
