Description

"This is a Zoom Online Program. Program Presented by Chris Paparo of Fish Guy Photos, who is the Southampton Marine Science Center Manager at Stony Brook University’s School of Marine and Atmospheric Sciences at its Southampton campus.

Long Island’s coastal waters have an abundance of sharks, all of which we know very little about. In 2015, a small group of researchers were the first to deploy a satellite tag on a juvenile great white shark off Long Island’s south shore. Over the subsequent two summers, a partnership with OCEARCH enabled them to tag an additional 20 white sharks off Montauk. In this presentation, learn about the continued work of SOFO’s Shark Research and Education Program, which launched in 2018.

There is a nominal fee associated with each of Chris Paparo’s Programs. The fee will be is $15 for an individual, $20 for two guests, $25 for a family of up to 5 people, and $125 for each school group of up to 25 people. All of our online classes will benefit environmental programs and initiatives at SOFO. To reserve your spot and to register click here. For more information, please contact info@sofo.org."
