When it comes to personal finances, it’s easy to be lost and not even know it. On Sunday, February 18, at 8:00, 9:30, 11:00 a.m., and 4:00 p.m., South Bay Bible Church will begin a new, six-part series entitled, LO$T: Clear Directions about Money Management.
Some of us start off with bad maps or perhaps take an accidental wrong turn or maybe get distracted by something we think we need. Whatever the reason, once we realize we’re lost, how can we find our way back? The task can be daunting, but the good news is God has given us clear directions to guide the way.
In this 6-part series, Pastor Hawley walks us through some of Jesus' counter-cultural teachings about money management. “The truth is you can't wholeheartedly follow Christ when you're lost financially,” said Martin Hawley, senior pastor. LO$T will comprise the following messages:
1. A Sudden Realization (1 Chronicles 29:11; Proverbs 21:20; Proverbs 21:5) – February 18: You can't wholeheartedly follow Jesus and remain lost financially.
2. Moving to Higher Ground (Luke 16) – February 25: You have a little bit of time and a little bit of treasure and a big opportunity. Don't miss it.
3. Flashback (Luke 12:13-21) – March 4: If God has blessed you with more than you need, it is so that you can share your abundance with those in need.
4. You Are Not Alone (Special Service) – March 11: Give special attention to this story.
5. Finding Shelter (1 Timothy 6:6-19) – March 18: Discontentment is bridled when you turn your attention from what you want to what others need. Once bridled, the appetite diminishes. Generosity vs. consumption.
6. Rescued (Proverbs 28:26) – March 25: There are three financial decisions we must make.
