Description

Come listen to live poetry based on real-life stories! Select poets will read original works based on the Parrish Story Circle on January 26, when members of diverse East End communities share personal experiences reflecting the current state of the nation, addressing topics such as belonging, racism, violence, and patriotism. The Story Circle and the poetry reading will be held in conjunction with the USDAC People's State of the Union.

The USDAC People's State of the Union is an invitation to anyone to host a national conversation in their homes, schools, houses of worship, cultural institutions, and community centers. Between January 25-February 4, 2018, hundreds of individuals and organizations across the U.S. hosted Story Circles. The concept was created by the U.S. Department of Arts and Culture (USDAC), an artists’ collective that is neither an official agency nor affiliated in any way with the federal government. The USDAC defines itself as “a people-powered movement dedicated to cultivating empathy, equity, and social imagination.”

Advance reservations are encouraged.

Admission is free for those who participated in the original USDAC Story Telling event.
