Queens County in southeastern New York... Western Suffolk County in southeastern New York... Nassau County in southeastern New York... * Until 1015 PM EDT. * At 715 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms. This will cause urban and small stream flooding in the advisory area. Up to one inch of rain has already fallen. * Some locations that will experience flooding include... Islip, Oyster Bay, Huntington, Freeport, Valley Stream, Lindenhurst, Glen Cove, Garden City, Lynbrook, Mineola, Westbury, Babylon, Patchogue, Great Neck and Farmingdale. Additional rainfall of one to two inches is expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding.

Description

Join us for our 3rd Annual Dragon Boat Race Festival will be held at the harbor of Port Jefferson Village on Saturday, September 17, 2016, 8:30 a.m.

A committee of chamber members, county representatives and tourism professionals are bringing fun, competition and recreation to Port Jefferson’s Village beautiful harbor.

This event will include local and regional teams coming together to race against each other in a series of heats. Novice teams are provided with instruction and all of the necessary equipment to race.

The event will begin at 8:30 am for the opening ceremony. The races will begin at 9:00 am and conclude at approximately 5:00 pm. Spectators are encouraged to come to Port Jefferson harbor with their lawn chairs and blankets to enjoy the festivities. Food vendors and music will keep the event lively for all throughout the day.
