PUEBLO POTTERY USING SCULPEY CLAY (Youth Art Month Workshop) grades 2-5
Instructor: Maureen Ahern
The Pueblo Indians began making clay pots two thousand years ago. Most were used for utilitarian purposes, such as cooking, carrying water, and storing food. Designs were painted or etched directly onto pots using symbols (pictographs) from nature. The tradition of making pottery continues to the present day. Using Sculpey clay, participants will learn handbuilding techniques to create their own pots and use wooden tools to etch pictograph designs.
