A Ribbon Cutting at the newly remodeled Melville McDonald’s with Councilwoman Joan Cergol, Councilman Ed Smyth and Long Island Cares CEO Paule Pachter will take place on Wednesday, February 27th at 3:00 p.m. Special recognition will be given to the Huntington Area Girl Scouts for their support and contributions to the restaurant’s food drive efforts.

 
The Melville McDonald’s didn’t miss a beat! They were open throughout the remodeling process – whether closing the lobby for a short period of time and servicing customers through the Drive-thru or vice versa. The store welcomed customers with an array of Grand Re-Opening events for the children from December through January. A visit with Santa, Face Painting and a Magician who captivated children and adults alike!  
 
But the Grand Re-Opening campaign that proved to be best was a holiday food drive with Long Island Cares, the Harry Chapin Food Bank. Melville McDonald’s owner and operator Carlos Morales felt it was important to contribute to those in need, especially during the holidays. Then the government shutdown happened and we received inquiries from those being affected. So the food drive benefiting the homeless, the Veterans, and all those in need in the community was extended over a month to February 24th. And the Huntington Area Girl Scout Troops were thrilled to help take on the challenge and support the food drive. They have been very supportive collecting donations, and some have taken on cookie sales and food drive collections together.

Girl Scouts of Suffolk County is proud to take part in this initiative with LI Cares and Melville McDonald’s,” says Yvonne Grant, President and CEO of Girl Scouts of Suffolk County. “Our girls pledge to help people at all times, and their participation in this food drive is a testament to that promise.”
 
The Melville McDonald’s offers new technology, modern decor and table service creating a modern guest experience, and the drive-thru continues to be open 24 hours for customer convenience.  Weinvite guests to experience updates to the restaurant, in an effort to showcase a new level of choice, engagement and service. McDonald’s owner/operators and restaurant teams in New York are placing a higher emphasis on hospitality by focusing on greeting customers, assisting with new technology and ensuring a clean, welcoming environment.
