Surgeon Melany Hughes, MD, MPH has joined Stony Brook Eastern Long Island Hospital.

Board Certified and trained in Multi-Disciplinary, Trauma, and General Surgical Procedures she has also completed a research fellowship with the World Health Organization. Dr. Hughes manages Acute Care General Surgery Services and is Associate Professor of General Surgery at Stony Brook University Hospital and provides full-time coverage for general surgery at Stony Brook Eastern Long Island Hospital. Dr. Hughes has office hours in Greenport at 222 Manor Place, across the street from SBELIH, making her services conveniently available to residents of the North Fork and Shelter Island.
