"Join Jake Kushner for a chance to learn about the secret life of the Eastern Red-backed Salamander. Although this salamander species is one of the most abundant vertebrates in forest habitats throughout the Northeast, they are rarely spotted on your average walk through the woods. These salamanders are fossorial, spending the majority of their time underground. As we roll logs and stones searching for these fascinating critters we’ll learn about their life underground, as well as their importance in forest ecosystems. Dress for wet/muddy conditions. This program is for adults, teens, and children 8 years of age and older.
There is a $5 fee for Adults and $3 fee for children for this program. Members are free.
Please note that, as mandated by the latest State Executive Order regarding COVID-19 safety precautions, our outdoor nature walks and programs will at all times follow stringent six-feet distancing separation protocols required by the Department of Health for the safety of our participants and environmental educators. We will provide masks and gloves for all attendees.
