The Flash Flood Watch continues for * portions of southern Connecticut, northeast New Jersey, and southeast New York, including the following areas, in southern Connecticut, Fairfield, Middlesex, New Haven, and New London. In northeast New Jersey, Bergen, Essex, Hudson, Passaic, and Union. In southeast New York, Bronx, Kings (brooklyn), Nassau, New York (manhattan), Orange, Putnam, Queens, Richmond (staten island), Rockland, Suffolk, and Westchester. * From Thursday morning through Thursday afternoon * low pressure approaches the tri-state area tonight and passes through on Thursday. Rain tonight becomes potentially heavy at times Thursday morning with the potential of heavy downpours into early afternoon. A total of 1.25 to 2.25 inches of rainfall with locally higher amounts possible in any stronger convection on Thursday. Flash flooding of urban and poor drainage areas, as well as small streams will therefore be possible Thursday. Precautionary/preparedness actions... A Flash Flood Watch means that conditions may develop that lead to flash flooding. Flash flooding is a very dangerous situation. The National Weather Service in Upton has issued a Wind Advisory, which is in effect from 9 am to 6 PM EST Thursday. * Winds...southwest 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph. * Timing...mid Thursday morning through Thursday afternoon. * Impacts...strong winds may blow down limbs, trees, and power lines. Scattered power outages are expected. Precautionary/preparedness actions... A Wind Advisory is issued when sustained winds of 31 to 39 mph, or gusts of 46 to 57 mph, are expected or occurring. The practical art of soap making has been around for centuries. Handmade natural soap offers the benefit of skin-nourishing ingredients without the use of harsh chemicals. When combined with the beautiful aromas of essential oils, a bar of handmade soap will make your beauty ritual even more satisfying.

In this 4 hour intensive workshop, you will learn the steps and procedures to master natural handmade soap using the cold process method. We will guide you in proper safety precautions as well as formulating soap recipes. Students will leave with two bars of soap.
