Date & Time
Share your stories at the Parrish’s second annual Story Circle as part of the artists collective U.S. Department of Arts and Culture’s People’s State of the Union. Inspired by the stories, a group of poets will compose poetry to be performed at the Parrish on March 23. No preparation is necessary.
Residents of the East End are invited to share their stories and reflect on the current “state of the union” while mingling with their neighbors and enjoying refreshments. The Story Circle aims to create a space for sharing and listening and to bring our communities together. The circles will be facilitated by moderators. Anyone age 15 and older is invited to participate.
The People’s State of the Union is an annual civic ritual, rooted in the belief that democracy is a conversation, not a monologue.
The Story Circles, initiated by the artists’ collective, “U.S. Department of Arts and Culture” are held nationwide. The stories will be uploaded to an online story portal where they can be shared.
Space is limited; advance registration required.
