Description

The 1963 motion picture The Great Escape told the story of how Allied POWs managed to construct a series of escape tunnels under the noses of their German captors.  How much of what is depicted in the movie really happened?   The results of several archeological investigations at the site of the real Stalag Luft III will be discussed.  Dr. Joel Klein, past president of the Professional Archeologists of New York City, returns to our lecture series with another fascinating story of archeological discoveries.  This event is sponsored by the North Fork Reform Synagogue and the Southold Indian Museum
