Congregation Tifereth Israel (CTI) joins with the Glen Cove Senior Center/Glen Cove Sage Foundation to present The Jewish Roots of Rock ‘n’ Roll on Saturday, November 16 at 7 p.m. The program takes place at CTI, 40 Hill Street in Glen Cove.

Jewish performers and songwriters have been at the forefront of American popular music for nearly three-quarters of a century. The songs of these Jewish artists are woven into the tapestry of American cultural history. In The Jewish Roots of Rock ‘n’ Roll, entertainer/guitarist Lincoln Richman explores the contributions of these artists including Leiber & Stoller, Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Famers who wrote many of Elvis Presley’s earliest hits and all of the timeless music celebrated in Smokey Joe’s Café. Through video clips, sound recordings and live music, Richman presents the songs of Leiber & Stoller as well as singer/songwriters Carole King, Billy Joel, Bob Dylan, Simon & Garfunkel and Neil Sedaka. He also explores music made famous by Kiss, Lesley Gore, The Ramones and The Beastie Boys.
