Hanshi Marilyn Fierro, Chief Instructor of the Smithtown Karate Academy, will be discussing her new book, "The Limitless Spirit of the Martial Arts," at Temple Israel of Lawrence, 140 Central Avenue, Lawrence, N.Y. 11559, on Wednesday, October 18, 2017, starting at 7:30p.m.
Marilyn is a 9th Dan and she holds the rank of Black Belt in Kobudo with IKKF and the OKKF. Hanshi Fierro is an internationally licensed instructor, certified coach and a tournament referee. She has been inducted into the Isshinryu Hall of Fame and The National Jewish Sports Hall of Fame.
In the early 1970's, Marilyn found herself pursuing a way of life that was supposed to be closed to women, let alone a Jewish woman - the martial arts. Join us for this special evening as she tells her story of personal growth, spirituality and achievement (both internally and externall).
