Date & Time
The PRESENT TENSE series continues on Sunday February 24th, 3pm, at Pierson High School Auditorium, with a screening of The Second Civil War. With its plot of anti-immigration hysteria, political opportunism, media manipulations, cowardly leadership, and schools’ shootings, this rarely seen 1997 comedy today feels like front page news. Or, one could say, it plays like a documentary. It was perceived like a shift of tone for its director, Joe Dante (Gremlins), based on a script by Canadian author Martyn Burke and produced by cable channel HBO. Director Joe Dante will lead the post film discussion, in a Q&A from Los Angeles, via Skype, moderated by Giulia D’Agnolo Vallan, head of the Sag Harbor Cinema programming committee. Beau Bridges stars. This screening is free, but donations to the Sag Harbor Cinema Arts Center are greatly appreciated. Suggested donation: $15.
