"Join historian and author Jerry Mikorenda for an illustrated talk examining the early history of the Civil Rights movement. Although Rosa Parks has been called “the first lady of Civil Rights,” a century before her famous refusal to give up her seat in segregated Alabama, another African American woman, Elizabeth Jennings, took a similar stand that ended segregation of NYC’s public transit system. After, view the museum’s newest acquisition, an 1880’s horse-drawn streetcar."
