Take the Long Island Trail from Smithtown through a red maple swamp, along McKinley Marsh and into Hidden Pond Park, tracing the Nissequogue watershed to its source; muddy footing possible; rain cancels; meet at Hidden Pond Park parking lot near The Rinx (follow park road to right turn, continue to far lot opposite playground); from L.I.E. Exit 58, go north on Old Nichol’s Rd., turn left onto Terry Rd. to park entrance.
