Description

Vanessa Williams and Peabo Bryson will headline the Staller Center for the Arts Gala on Saturday, March 5, 2016 at 8:00 pm on Staller Center's Main Stage at Stony Brook University.

Award-winning singer and actress Vanessa Williams is one of the most respected and multi-faceted performers in entertainment today.  She has conquered the musical charts (“Save the Best for Last,” “Colors of the Wind” for Disney’s Pocahontas), Broadway (Kiss of the Spider Woman, Into the Woods, The Trip to Bountiful), television (“Ugly Betty,” “Desperate Housewives,” “666 Park Avenue”) and motion pictures (Eraser, Soul Food, Dance With Me, Light It Up, and Shaft) among others.

Peabo Bryson, two-time Grammy winner, sings the music of romance, offering a timeless mix of pop and soul. The acclaimed rhythm & blues and soul singer-songwriter has twenty albums to his credit. His duet with Roberta Flack, “Tonight I Celebrate My Love,” was a huge hit in the ‘80s and earned Bryson the tag “King of Balladeers.”

Many know him for his work as the go-to singer for Disney soundtracks (“Beauty and the Beast” with Celine Dion, “A Whole New World” with Regina Belle for Aladdin). Peabo Bryson has been acclaimed as one of the “truly best friends” a song could have.
