In advance of Veteran’s Day, please join Central Synagogue - Beth Emeth for a documentary film screening of ,"In the Shadow of Suribachi: Sammy’s Story".
The film is World War II Marine and Iwo Jima Survivor Sammy Bernstein’s tale of two battles; the first, his thirty-six days of hell on Iwo Jima; the second, being a Jew in the World War II Marine Corps.
Central Synagogue's first Rabbi, Roland B. Gittelson's speech on Iwo Jima plays an important part in the telling of the story.
A discussion with the film maker Joseph A. Conforti, will follow.
The screening is free. Donations to help defray the post productions costs are always appreciated.
A light bagel breakfast will be served.
