The Holocaust Memorial and Tolerance Center of Nassau County (HMTC) presents, "Women, Not Victims: Moving Beyond Sexualized Atrocities During Genocide."

 

A global examination of sexualized atrocities during and after genocide in the 20th and 21st centuries. A legal expert on genocide and sexualized atrocities, Dr. Najwa Nabti, will give the keynote address on "Courage and Conviction: How the Testimony of Survivors of Sexual Violence has Shaped International Law." Survivors of genocide in Rwanda, the Congo and Uganda will give testimony. Other topics of sessions include Guatemala, the Holocaust and Patterns of Trauma.
