Description

The Rogers Memorial Library in Southampton NY is hosting a lecture on Affordable Housing on Thursday, October 6that 5:30 pm. Through its lectures and classes, the Library promotes education and general knowledge on various current topics, including important issues facing our community.

Affordable Housing is often misunderstood.  Complex and multifaceted, Affordable Housing is dealt with in many different ways here and around the world.  Millenials and “Generation X” are part of our workforce, but have difficulty finding suitable housing for their families in order to remain in this area.  Similarly, seniors with limited income have no place to go after selling their homes. This lecture will answer your questions about what affordable housing is, and will provide an overview of HUD and local assistance programs, affordable housing regulations, and the development and financing of affordable housing.

Guest lecturer Marc A. Chiffert is a professional engineer and NAHRO (National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials) certified affordable housing professional with over 20 years of experience in affordable housing.  Marc is a member of the American Planning Association, past member of the Southampton Community Housing Development Corp., and president of an architectural engineering firm with offices in Southampton and New York City.

Register through October 6th at www.myrml.org or call (631) 283-0774, ext. 523.  For further information, call Marc A. Chiffert, P.E. at 631-353-3375 or email maida@tutoringbyengineers.com or marc@tutoringbyengineers.com.
