In this illustrated presentation, author Chris Verga will explore the often overlooked role of Long Island as a battleground of the civil rights movement, challenging us to consider how a racial caste system has directly or indirectly been enforced through slavery and post-WWII racial barriers to home ownership and education, and how civil disobedience has been employed as a means to fracturing racial barriers on Long Island.
