Lt. Quentin Roosevelt Cadet Squadron - NER NY 288, the Local Civil Air Patrol Squadron will host an OPEN HOUSE.
SEAFORD, NY (13 June, 2017): Civil Air Patrol is a congressionally chartered, federally supported non-profit corporation that serves as the official civilian Auxiliary of the United States Air Force (the “CAP”). CAP has squadrons based throughout the country and Puerto Rico, where teen cadets and senior (adult) members offer non-combat support for the USAF.
Specifically, our four missions include
CAP activities include both, air and/or ground search missions, rescue missions, disaster relief, and homeland security missions. Cadets, working as a team, are trained in and offer support in non-combat missions of the USAF, such as ground and aerial Search and Rescue, Homeland Security, DEA Enforcement, and Border Patrol. Our squadron covers all of Nassau County, with cadets representing all three Nassau County towns Hempstead, North Hempstead and Oyster Bay, as well as other neighboring areas. We meet every Tuesday evening from 1900 hours (7:00 pm) to 2130 hours (9:30 pm) at the St Michael & All Angels Episcopal Church, 2197 Jackson Ave., Seaford, NY.
We will be hosting an open house Tuesday 13 June 2017 at 7:30pm until 9:30 pm.
Students from age 12 to 18 are welcome to join, with some staying on as adult (senior) members. Our cadets get to experience orientation flights on single-engine aircraft, emergency services training, drill team and color guard opportunities, encampments, as well as other cadet special activities throughout the country and possibly internationally and community service credit which can be utilized for school honor societies and other school needs.
CAP Open houses do not come by often, so please do not let this opportunity pass you by!
