To honor National Poetry Month,
Gallery North invites you to an afternoon of
"Ekphrasis or the Poetry of Art"
Homer might have been the first poet who has described the work of art in verses devoted to Achille's shield but this hour-long presentation will take you from Early Flemish paintings to Duchamp, Hopper and many others. All seen through the poems presented by renown Long Island poets. The poems, both old favorites and contemporary work, have been selected by Claire Nicolas White and the artwork prepared by Jan La Roche. Philip Asaph,
Ron Overton, Orel Protopopescu, and Claire Nicolas White will read.
