Astronau Ellen S. Baker, MD, MPH, is coming to Temple Israel of Lawrence, 140 Central Avenue, Lawrence, N.Y., on Sunday, February 26, 2017, at 10:00 a.m., to speak to the community, in particular school-age children, about her experiences as an astronaut and being in space.
Dr. Baker was a mission specialist on three space shuttle missions, and she logged over 686 hours (that's over 28 days), in space. Until recently she was Chief of the Astronaut Office Education/Medical Branch.
Dr Baker flew on STS-34 Atlantis (1989); STS-50 Columbia (1992); and STS-71 Atlantis (1995).
