Date & Time
Mostly Abstract exhibit returns to Ashawagh Hall for its fourth year. Abstract IV will feature a diverse group of abstract artists whose styles and techniques vary greatly. The exhibit will be held midweek with an opening reception being held on Tuesday, August 23rd, from 6 to 8. Lite bites and refreshments will be served.
Despite their stylistic differences, the artists are each connected to the old traditions of abstract expressionism deeply rooted in the history of artists from the Springs, right outside East Hampton Village. Both deKooning and Pollock showed their work at exhibits held in Ashawagh Hall.
Though the artwork on exhibit will be connected through abstraction, this is a very eclectic show with recognizable distinct styles via the artist’s, brushstrokes, subject matter, or use of color and texture. The artists investigate a wide variety of mixed media. Everything from traditional oil, acrylic and watercolor paint to clay, wood, metal, photography, collage, graphite, and resin is explored. The artists reference a variety of sources for inspiration incorporating nature, geometry and layered textures. Paintings and sculpture will be on exhibit.
"Mostly Abstract IV " will be held at Ashawagh Hall, 780 Springs Fireplace Road, Springs, NY, from August 23rd through the 25th. Opening Reception will be held on Tuesday, August 23 from 6 to 8.
