Date & Time
Artist Ben Schonzeit, whose work is seen in the museum’s current exhibition of Photorealistic art, has been heralded as a central figure in the American Photorealist movement of the 1970s. Born in Brooklyn in 1942, Schonzeit received his BFA from Cooper Union in 1964. At Nassau County Museum of Art, he will discuss the origins of Photorealism in the 1960s and its subsequent development from the 70s to the present. He will focus on his own work that is in the exhibition, especially Giummo, a 1973 portrait of his dear friend, Joe Giummo.
