Southampton's Pelletreau Silver Shop was built in 1686 and is the oldest continuously opened trade shop in the Americas. The shop was run by well-known colonial silversmith Elias Pelletreau, a patriot in the American Revolution, and his family for three generation. The shop is managed today by master jeweler Eric Messin who offers workshops in jewelry making. Behind the shop is Emma's Colonial Garden which recreates a typical vegetable bed from that era and is managed by Hilary Woodward and Sally Van Allen. Come for a tour of both the shop and garden and enjoy libations and summer produce for refreshments.
