Sag Harbor Partnership announces Sag Harbor Walking Tours, an exciting new smartphone app for discovering the treasures, secrets, and history of Sag Harbor Village. This makes Sag Harbor the first town on Eastern Long island to have an app dedicated to its history and culture.
There’s a whole new way to experience Sag Harbor with the new SAG HARBOR WALKING TOURS APP for smartphones. This app features historical, literary, cultural, and other walking tours which will open residents’ and visitors’ eyes alike to the rich history, architecture, diversity and culture of Sag Harbor. There’s even a Kids’ Walking Tour, complete with a reward at the end for spotting 6 of the treasure hunt-like items featured on it.
The other tours currently available are a Literary Tour, with authors and their homes from the 1700s to the present; Eastville Community: Unique Diversity, which discusses the possibility of the presence of the Underground Railroad here in Sag Harbor as well as that area’s special cultural make-up; the Sag Harbor Historical Society Walking Tour, which highlights the rich vernacular architectural history of the area; Arts and Architecture Quarterly in conjunction with the Society for the Preservation of Long Island Antiquities Walking Tour with its exceptional wealth of information and beautiful photographs by Jeff Heatley; and the Sag Harbor Cultural District Walking Tour, which unites nine fine not-for-profit cultural institutions to offer an expanded experience of culture and education.
The app is FREE and available from the Apple App Store/iTunes and Google Play for Android phones by simply searching: Sag Harbor Walking Tours.
