"Our new radio-play is based on Stagecoach, the motion picture. Directed by John Ford and starring Claire Trevor and John Wayne in his breakthrough role, Stagecoach is the story of a group of people from very different backgrounds who are thrown together for a perilous journey on an Overland stage in the untamed Arizona Territory of 1875. The themes of what Ford called his "romance of the West" are eternal: courage and integrity, compassion and redemption.
Our script by Port Washington writer Patrick Lyons is based on the NBC Theater coast-to-coast radio broadcast of Jan. 9, 1949, as well as the 1939 film, which was nominated for five Academy Awards and won two Oscars, for musical score and best supporting actor.
This "old-time radio"-style production will include creatively produced sound effects, period commercials and songs between acts. The cast is a mix of talented professional and community actors. The one-hour production will be recorded and, after post-production, will be released to be aired on radio.
Landmark Radio Theater's Stagecoach is co-produced by Landmark on Main Street and Expressive Elocution."
