Did you know that cranberries are so important to Native people in New England that they hold a harvest party in their honor every year? Long Island has an important historical link to this fruit, as well. At one time, Suffolk County was the third largest producer of cranberries in the United States, making the berry a popular ingredient in many Shinnecock recipes.
