Nothing grows your faith like systematically reading through the Bible in a year, so join South Bay Bible Church’s 2019 Bible Reading Challenge and submerge yourself in the greatest love story ever.

This year, we are encouraging everyone to read God’s story in the Chronological Daily Bible by George H. Guthrie in the highly-regarded, reliable, Christian Standard Bible translation (formally the Holman Christian Bible). There are many features in this Bible translation including the ability to read, listen, track, and share. A free app is also available with audio podcasts.

Reading God’s story will take you on a one-year journey through the entire Bible. This unique design will help you clearly see the grand story of Holy Scripture as well as better understand how the smaller parts fit within the larger narrative. Introductions are provided along the way to orient and remind you of where you are in the grand story.

“I was able to attain my goal of reading the entire chronological Bible in 2017, and I now realize I’ve only just begun. The Bible needs to be read again and again. I know I’ll always learn more truth each time I read it,” said Donna Reidy, a long-time member of South Bay Bible Church.

This year’s challenge includes a new online forum just for South Bay readers. It is designed with aids to help you finish one of the greatest spiritual journeys of your life. The forum will include the following:

•     A place to get previews and highlights from Pastor Hawley at the start of every month.

•     A place to get your questions answered.

•     A place to help someone answer their questions.

•     A place to just have a conversation about something significant you learned.

•     A place to receive and give support and encouragement.

If you’ve never read the Bible through in a year, or if you’re a veteran Bible reader, this may well prove to be the most inspirational year of personal devotion you’ve ever taken. To join us in the 2019 Bible Reading Challenge, simply visit to sign up. Bible reading starts January 1, so enroll right away. The only cost is the price of the Bible, which you are free to order on your own.
