Description

"Brent C. Talbot is Associate Professor and Coordinator of Music Education at the Sunderman Conservatory of Music at Gettysburg College where he teaches various courses in music education and supervises student teaching and research. He is artistic director of the Gettysburg Children’s Choir and founding director of Gamelan Gita Semara, an instrumental ensemble that performs concerts and residencies of contemporary and traditional music from Bali, Indonesia. A frequent presenter at regional, state, national, and international conferences, his research examines power, discourse, and issues of social justice in varied settings for music learning around the globe. Talbot is the author/editor of three books—Marginalized Voices in Music Education (Routledge), Gending Rare: Children’s Songs and Games from Bali (GIA), and Finding A Way (Lambert)—and is published in various state, national, and international journals and in books on music education and music therapy. Talbot serves in multiple leadership positions in PMEA, SMTE, NAfME and the MayDay Group. In addition, he sits on the editorial board of the Bulletin of the Council for Music Education and serves as associate editor for the journal Action, Criticism and Theory in Music Education." - Adelphi University Performing Arts Center
