"When Prussian blue arrived in Japan in 1830, the master printmakers Hiroshige and Hokusai were among many artists who immediately began creating a whole new body of work inspired by the color. David Libertson is one of the world’s great experts on these iconic works, which were so important to Western artists and thinkers from van Gogh to Frank Lloyd Wright and David Hockney.
